Rebel Hearts are a duo with a sexy, bootlegging, speakeasy vibe. "Cotton club jazz and blues mixed with stomping saloon country and soul.” With their vintage flair, they style their shows accordingly mixing Blues, Jazz and Soul with distinctive Country Americana. They can perform both old and new songs and can include some of their own original music as well, which has a Bluegrass and Rock 'n' Roll style.

Kate and Simon are a husband and wife team and between them, they have over a decade of experience in the music and theatre industries. Kate is an established musical theatre performer, having performed all over the World and in London’s West End with musicals such as Grease and Annie. Simon has been a professional singer/songwriter for the last ten years, touring throughout Europe and the UK and has supported the likes of Seth Lakeman, Martin Harley and Frank Turner.

The repertoire includes a set of jazz/blues covers and a set of stomping country/blues tunes as well as the bands own arrangements of modern pop songs. We mix all these up to create a fast moving and seamless show. Every song has a different sound and our usual sets take a journey from Jazzy and Soulful through to Rocking Country, creating a very varied performance. The band pride themselves on being able to make a powerful and energetic sound with just the two of us. We do this with one guitar, bass effects, percussion, harmonica and lots of vocal harmonies.

Originally developed as a cabaret style show, Rebel Hearts can also perform as two separate ‘reduced musicals’ complete with dramatic dialogue and monologues complementing some of the most popular Broadway/West End musical numbers. Both Kate and Simon have worked extensively in theatre and bring that calibre of performance and professionalism to these shows.

I am really keen to have some live music during my wedding ceremony - are you able to perform during the ceremony?
Absolutely! We regularly perform during wedding ceremonies and drinks receptions. We like to arrive and set up in time for when your guests start to arrive, we can then welcome them with some live music and then perform as required during your ceremony. We can re-set and perform during your drinks reception if required. The band can also perform during wedding breakfasts.

Do you take requests?
We are happy to perform one special request for you - for weddings this is usually a song during the ceremony. You can also let us know your top 10 preferences from the repertoire - so you can be sure to hear all your favourites on the day.

How long do you take to set-up?
45 minutes.

What time do you play?
At a time to suit your event, standard prices are for 2 hours of live music, to be performed as required over a 4 hour period.

Do you have your own equipment?
Yes – we travel self-contained with amplification.

What is the website guide price based on?
The published guide price is based on our duo line-up option performing at a venue within 30 miles of our base in Fareham. We charge travel costs for venues further than 30 miles, and if your venue is more than a 2 hours 30 mins drive home, we charge a bit extra so we can book accommodation. For an accurate quote please contact us with your event date and venue details.

Our venue has a noise limiter, can you work with that?
Yes, our sound works fine with noise limiters.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance and PAT tested equipment?
Yes.

How much space do you require?
We have played in some very small spaces, but ideally a minimum of around 2m x 3m.

How much power do you require?
1 x 13-amp sockets is fine for our system.

Do I need to provide food/drinks?
Soft drinks are always much appreciated & for longer days a meal would be great but this is not essential.

Can we see you play live before booking?
As a professional function band our bookings tend to be weddings and private events that unfortunately we are unable to invite guests to. Our videos are a very accurate insight into our look and sound, and we'd also encourage you to check out our testimonials page to see what previous clients have said about their experience with the band.
