FAQ
How long does it take the band to set up? Assuming it’s easy to get to the performance area without the use of stairs or lifts, the band can be setup and ready to go in 90 minutes. We’ll discuss the specifics of your venue in advance so that they arrive in plenty of time.
What is a Soundcheck and why do you need to have one? A Soundcheck involves setting up and positioning the instruments, PA (speakers) and lights, connecting all the cables, checking that all the equipment is working and balancing the volume of each instrument.
Having a Soundcheck prior to the performance ensures that the volume of the band is correct for the size of your venue and number of guests, that the band can hear each other clearly and that the PA system sounds good in the room (and not too boomy).
When does the band do a Soundcheck? This is dependent on the venue space, type of event and the schedule of your day. At weddings, where the band are performing in same space as the wedding breakfast, they will often set up and soundcheck after the speeches have finished and the tables are being removed in preparation for the evening. It is advisable (but not essential) to have guests vacate the room at this time.
For events held in a larger space or where a venue has multiple rooms, the band are able to arrive earlier in the day and prepare before guests arrive. We are open to working within your schedule and making the day run as smoothly as possible.
What time do the band start playing? The band often start at around 9pm, but there is no fixed time. We’re happy to plan around the schedule of your day.
How long will the band play for? The band will play for up to 2 hours as standard. If you need them to play for less time just let us know. They can perform for longer if requested, but this may incur an additional fee. We’ve found that two sets of one hour each works best to keep everyone up and dancing.
How long are the intervals? The band often break for half an hour in between sets, but this can be flexible to fit around your plans for the day.
Does the band provide music in between sets? The band DJ in between live sets using Spotify. We ask for a playlist of 30 of the songs you’d like to hear. We will play songs throughout the night that are in keeping with your taste, but also suitable for the guests on the dancefloor. This is included in the price. Should you require a permanently manned DJ service with decks, we also offer this service for an additional charge.
Can we choose the set list? The band will often mix their set up based on the reaction of guests on the day, however you are welcome to select your favourites from their repertoire and they will play as many of them as they can. Would the band learn a first dance request? The band would be more than happy to play a first dance song of your choice. Please contact us with your song details in advance. If the band do not already know the song, we may require an additional fee to cover rehearsal costs.
How much space does the band need to perform? Where space is not an issue, the band works best in a performance area of 8 metres x 4 metres. If space is an issue, we will still endeavor to make it work and can set up in a space as small as 4 metres x 3 metres. If you are concerned about space, feel free to take photos of your venue and e-mail them across to us.
Does the band need a raised stage? A stage is a great addition and makes a surprising difference but is not essential.
What are the minimum power requirements for the band? All of the band’s equipment can run from two standard 13 amp sockets.
Does the band provide their own sound equipment and lights? Yes, the band can provide a full PA (speakers) suitable for up to 450 guests, as well as a full light show. This is included in our price. Should you wish to provide your own Audio Visual Team, please let us know in advance.
Is the band’s equipment PAT tested? Yes, the band’s equipment is PAT tested in advance for electrical safety. A PAT test certificate can be provided if your venue requests it. Does the band have Public Liability Insurance (PLI)? Yes, the band has Public Liability Insurance. A PLI certificate can be provided if your venue requests it.
How loud will the band be? It is likely that you will need to talk directly into someone’s ear whilst on the dancefloor. From 10 metres away it is likely you would be able to talk to people with a raised voice.
What is a Sound Limiter? A Sound Limiter measures how loud the noise is within a room and will cut off the electricity supply if the noise remains at a certain volume for a period of around 10 seconds. If you are keen to have live music at your event, it is best to choose a venue that does not use a Sound Limiter.
If you have already booked your venue, we will always do our best to work within the stipulated noise constraints. The roaming or acoustic versions of the band are alternatives where noise levels would be considerably lower. We can also offer the option of an electric drum kit to reduce noise although electric drums can sometimes sound a little artificial.
What will the band wear? The band will be dressed smartly, all in black without ties. Should you want them to wear something specific, please just ask!
Will the band need a changing room? Whilst we understand that it’s not always possible, the band prefer to have a quiet and secure room where they can get changed and prepare for the performance. A table and chairs, power supply, bottled water and mirror are an added bonus!
Can I see the band play live before booking? Unfortunately the band are usually hired to play at private events, so it is not possible to see them at a public show. Our video includes the live sound from an event and is a good indication of what the band would sound like.
Does the price quoted include travel costs? Yes, all quotes include travel costs. Any parking costs that we incur will be invoiced to you after the event.
